Looking for a way to read your e-books? Visit Franklin's Website and learn more about their eBookMan reader. It's a reader, viewer, audiobook and music player, date book, memo book, address book, voice memo recorder, to do list, plus calculator all in one unit. There are three versions and price ranges to choose from.


What is an e - book?

An e-book, or electronic book, is a book like any other except for its format. It's a computer generated file for reading on your computer screen, laptop, or handheld devices such as the Palm, Franklin's eBookMan, or Gemstar's Reb1100 or Reb1200. The format/file type most common include PDF, (Adobe's free Acrobat Reader), HTML for browsers such as IE and Netscape, rb (Rocket reader), Microsoft Reader (LIT), Glassbook Reader, OeB (Open eBook), RTF, TXT, Windows CE, ASCII. And the list expands almost daily.

The e-book may be downloaded directly to your desktop or laptop computer, or as an e.mail attachment, purchased as a CD or floppy disk either at the publisher's website or at on online bookstores.

Another advantage to the electronic book is its adjustable print option. You can switch from normal to large print version with one touch, or look up the definition of a word in the built-in dictionary. Then there's the hyperlinks, sound and video capabilities. Have I forgotten anything? I hope not but, check back often. I'll update this as the latest developments occur. Meanwhile, I hope you treat yourself and buy an e-book.
